Dr Saboora Waris graduated from Monash University, Australia in 2017 with a PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. During her PhD, she characterized RNA binding proteins TIA-1, TIAR and HuR involved in stress granule formation. Her research interests in general, include understanding the role of RNA/DNA binding proteins in various cancers and infectious diseases, molecular pathogenesis of glioblastomas, and neurodegenerative diseases. Her work was published in high-impact international journals; the International journal of molecular sciences, Nucleic acids research, Cell Reports Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews and the New England Journal of Medicine. She received several awards and honours which included the Monash graduate scholarship (MGS), Monash international postgraduate research scholarship (MIPRS) and Young Investigator Travel Award given by the American Protein Society in 2016 and 2018.
